The Museum of Royal Worcester is opening the doors to its ceramic studio after-hours for the first time. New museum director, Kate, Travers will be hosting a sociable creative evening of pottery painting, mulled wine and mince pies on Friday 8 November, 4pm-8pm. The after-hours event is an opportunity for women to get together with colleagues or friends and create unique personalised presents or treats, inspired by the Museum’s collections. All pots will be glazed and fired in time for Christmas. There will also be a raffle and a bar open on the night.

Kate Travers, museum director, said: “We’re calling all the ladies to start the festive season by painting pots after hours and having fun. It’s a great opportunity to meet up with other Worcestershire ladies over a mulled wine and enjoy a memorable creative evening.”

She added: “As an independent charity, it costs £600 per day to care for and celebrate Worcester’s porcelain heritage through our year round creative programme. Monies raised from the evening will go towards our work connecting local communities with ‘The Porcelain’s’ vibrant design heritage.”

The museum is hosting two sessions, 4pm-6pm for women who can get out of work early and 6pm – 8pm, for those who prefer to come along after the office. Tickets cost £30 per person for the event, which includes a mulled wine and mince pies and choice from a wide range of ceramics; from mugs, bowls, espresso cups, and sushi dishes to coasters and flowerpots. Participants can also upgrade on the night and ‘go large’ with butter dishes, vases and pet bowls, or the ever popular Campervan trinket dishes.

Samantha McCarthy, chief executive of Worcester BID said: “It’s fantastic to see an event that celebrates Worcester’s vibrant crafting history in such a hands-on way. This event allows our business community and local women to come together and enjoy an evening painting ceramics. The community spirit in Worcester is something we wholeheartedly champion at Worcester BID in our initiatives, and it truly shines through in the work of the Museum of Royal Worcester.”

The Museum shop will be open with 10% off to help with festive shopping savings, from unique pendants, ear-rings and cufflinks made out of Worcester porcelain, to food and drink inspired books, kimonos and scarves inspired by the collection and even a new range of six handmade sustainable Christmas crackers which use stunning designs from the Museum’s archive.
