Happy National Apprenticeship Week! Developing Local Talent
At Worcester BID, we take pride in nurturing talent through our apprenticeship programs in collaboration with local providers.
Today, we want to shine a spotlight on the journeys of two of our team members, Abbey and Crystal.
Both Abbey and Crystal began their careers with us as apprentices—Crystal in 2021 and Abbey in 2022. It’s incredible how quickly time has passed!
We asked them to share their experiences and reasons for choosing apprenticeship opportunities with Worcester BID:
✨ Abbey: “An apprenticeship was an excellent way to pivot my career. The blended learning model worked wonders for me, allowing me to transition into a permanent role where I feel truly valued as part of the team in a new sector.”
✨ Crystal: “Reflecting on my journey after completing my apprenticeship, I can confidently say that Worcester BID was my gateway to finding a fulfilling career. The essential skills I gained through exams and hands-on experience have significantly propelled my professional growth.”
If you are considering a career change or taking your first steps into the workforce, apprenticeships provide an exceptional blend of practical experience and academic learning.
On the opposite side of things, offering apprenticeships at your venue presents a valuable opportunity to cultivate local talent and ensure that skilled individuals choose to remain in Worcester. By providing hands-on training and mentorship, you can help bridge the gap between education and the workforce. This initiative not only benefits the apprentices by equipping them with practical experience and valuable skills but also supports your organisation's growth by fostering a dedicated pool of talent.
Moreover, investing in apprenticeships can enhance your venue's reputation in the community, demonstrating a commitment to local development and economic growth. It can also encourage other businesses in the area to engage in similar programs, further strengthening the workforce in Worcester. By nurturing and retaining talent locally, we can build a brighter future for our community and create a more sustainable economy.
