The city is our passion; we live and breathe it every day. Dedicated to our businesses’ needs, acting with care and precision. While understanding the pressures the business community faces on a daily basis and working with them to support through challenging times.

Over the last 5 years, your BID has been the voice and the support, helping and guiding with grants during the COVID pandemic, continuing to connect business owners over zoom during isolating times. Being that breath of fresh air, injecting new life into the city and helping us to reopen, welcoming back our community. Advising on guidelines, investing in art trails and encouraging the footfall to return.

Your businesses are at the heart of all our objectives; supporting staff retention through free training and upskilling the workforce. Creating a safe working environment with our friendly safer streets team on early morning patrols, greeting your teams as they arrive and being present in the city as the businesses close down for the day.

Supporting city revellers to enjoy a safe and vibrant nightlife. Being there for the venues as a point of call, and to reassure them if an incident was to arise, that they are not facing this alone.

The BID is a community where we stand together, we weather the storms, and we are the reason we shine, even when it’s dark.

You highlighted to us the importance of safer streets, vibrant and attractive streets, supporting skills and staff retention within your businesses.

But, without Worcester BID, these essential deliverables would disappear and could not be carried on by statutory services, leaving a gap in support for businesses and our city.

If Worcester BID were to no longer exist, there would be:

Worcester Safe Space was developed following the first successful assessment for Purple Flag, assessing the businesses demands during the early hours and the potential vulnerabilities that naturally arise during unsociable hours. Investigating ways to reduce pressures within venues, for the door staff, police and the NHS service.

As a city, it is important for our night time economy to thrive and feel they have the support, should incidents arise.

During the first 6 months Safe Space has cared for 945 people, 75% of whom were city residents with 54% in the age range of between 17 - 24.

Our city venues number one priority is customer experience, ensuring they have a safe and memorable night. The Safe Space adds this additional support, ensuring if something was to go wrong, you would be taken care of instantly and still leave feeling that it was a positive experience within the venues and city streets.
