TheOldPalace

TheOldPalace is aGrade I listedbuilding
that dates back to the 11th century, giving
a fascinating insight toWorcester’s history,
aswell as being the centreof Diocesan
administration, a role it has held for over
900 years.
Over the years, TheGreat Hall provided
the setting for various historic events,
and severalmonarchswere receivedhere,
includingCharles I during theCivilWar
and, nearly a hundred years earlier, Queen
Elizabeth I, whowas entertained for aweek
byBishopNicholas, an event that brought
about his financial ruin!
Visitors can sit in theGreat Hall and take in
themagnificent viewover theRiver Severn
to theMalvernHills, anddiscover theChapel,
with itsmany changes and intriguinghistory.
Datingback to the 13th century, the large
vaulted chamber known asAbbot’sKitchen
is oneof theoldest parts, althoughwas
never actuallyused as a kitchen!
With a number of public rooms open
to visitors, a café for refreshments, and
beautiful gardens to explore, theOld
Palace is definitelyworth a visit and a
warmwelcome is extended to everyone.
